Whitesands Bay Beach
Whitesands Bay Beach is an attractive compact beach with fine golden sand bounded by a rocky shore and backed by low coastal grassland. Part of the John Muir Way, its a great place to walk amongst the dunes and grasses. Also a great place to start if you wanted to walk along the coast to Thorntonloch Beach. It is also to search for fossils in the limestone and shale (please don’t hammer or dig out any fossils you see – Scottish Fossil Code). This is a popular location for swimming.
Barns Ness Lighthouse is a few minutes walk away and worth a visit to see (please be aware it is a private residence).
