Tantallon Castle
Tantallon Castle is a formidable and one of the most impressive castles in Southern Scotland, it dramatically sits on the edge of the cliffs, with spectacular view looking out onto the Firth of Forth towards the Bass Rock, this formidable castle, built mid-1300s was a stronghold of the Douglas family, a powerful family in Scotland. Mary Queen of Scots is said to of visited it in 1566. It endured three sieges over its time, the last being from Oliver Cromwell invasion in 1651. Tantallon Castle is a mid-14th-century fortress, located 5 kilometres east of North Berwick. The castle is looked after by Historic Scotland.
Admission charge.
Summer: April – September, 9.30 to 5.30pm
Winter: October – March, 9.30 to 4.30pm
