Thorntonloch Beach is a long beautiful sandy beach runs for 400m, backed along its length by shallow dunes. and grassland. Popular with swimmers, windsurfers and anglers.
The Geology Trail starts in the car park at Whitesands Bay. The beach can be found on an unclassified road off the A1. South of the entrance to Torness Nuclear Power Station.
It is a nice coastal walk past Barns Ness Lighthouse and Keepers’ Cottages or off-road cycle.
